Outdoor Retail Store
Ouachita Outdoor Outfitters carries over 40 lines of outdoor products to equip you on your outdoor adventures. Started in December 1997, Ouachita Outdoors has grown in inventory and size, and we now have 2500 sq. foot space dedicated to hiking, camping, backpacking, flyfishing, and other related outdoor products. We also have 1500 sq. foot dedicated to canoes, kayaks, and other paddlesport accessories. We are open 6 days a week but closed on Sunday, our day to go outdoors!

Hiking / BackPacking
Over 700 miles of maintained trails extend throughout the Ouachita National Forest with everything from short day hikes to extended backpacking adventures. Our most popular trail is the Ouachita Trail which runs 223 miles through the Ouachita Mountains just north of Hot Springs. In the Ouachita National Forest there are 35 developed recreation areas, 7 scenic areas, 43 vistas, 6 wilderness areas, 1 national recreation area, 1 state park, and many private resorts for your enjoyment.

Paddlesports
The Ouachita and Caddo Rivers located west of Hot Springs, offer Class I canoeing and kayaking opportunities along with some of the best smallmouth fishing in the state. Canoe and Kayak outfitters are available for rentals and shuttles.

For the whitewater enthusiast, the Cossatot (Indian Translation: Skull Crusher) River and the Little Missouri River are located a little further west and offer Class III and Class IV whitewater thrills. The beginners don’t need to try these two rivers.

Rock Climbing
Rock Climbing in the area is limited but not too far to the north around Mt. Magazine are some great walls to test your skills.

Fly Fishing
Fly fishing is becoming more popular with the Arkansas Game and Fish stocking 8 to 12 inch rainbows below all three dams in the Tri-Lake area, as well as on the Little Missouri River-- above and below the lake. The area below Lake Catherine and Lake Greeson hold trout all year (20 inchers have been caught before).
